The state sales tax rate in Wyoming is 4%.
The mandatory statewide rate is 4%, and counties add voter-approved local option taxes based on where the customer takes possession of the item or service. The Division's chart effective October 1, 2026 lists total sales and use tax rates from 4% to 9%, with 9% applying only inside the Teton Village and Grand Targhee resort districts.
Wyoming's Department of Revenue says labor or service charges for the repair, alteration or improvement of tangible personal property, plus the materials and supplies used, are subject to sales tax, while charges for labor to alter, improve or construct real property are not (except within an oil or gas wellsite). Contractors are treated as the end users of the materials they use on real property.

The Department licenses apprentice electricians, journeyman and master electricians, low voltage and limited technicians, and electrical contractors, and issues wiring permits.
A business selling tangible personal property in Wyoming needs a Wyoming sales tax license. For other sales or services, the Division asks businesses to email its Education and Taxability team for a written determination.
Contractors working on real property usually do not need a Wyoming sales tax license, because they are the end consumers of the materials they use and pay sales tax to their vendors, unless the contractor also sells or works on tangible personal property.
