The state sales tax rate in Oklahoma is 4.5%.
If the sale takes place in a county or municipality that also levies a sales tax, that tax is added to the 4.5% state rate. When a product is delivered to the customer, the rate is the one at the location where the customer receives it.

The Board's mechanical licenses cover apprentices, journeymen and contractors; the unlimited mechanical contractor license entitles the holder to install, alter, service, maintain or repair cooling and heating equipment, sheet metal, natural gas piping and refrigeration.

Contractors are treated as consumers or users: they cannot get a sales tax permit to buy materials tax-free and must pay sales tax on taxable services and on materials, supplies and equipment purchased to develop and improve real property.
General contractors do not currently need a state license for general contracting in Oklahoma, but trade licenses or registrations are required for licensed trade work, and local jurisdictions may have their own requirements.
