The Construction Industries Division issues the MM-1 Plumbing contractor classification, which requires four years of experience.

Gross receipts tax is imposed on the business, but it is common to pass it on to the purchaser; when it is passed on, it must be separately stated on the invoice.

Since July 1, 2025, gross receipts tax rates change only in July, unless a special situation such as a natural disaster lets a county or municipality change its rate in January.
