Connecticut taxes only the services its statutes list. The Department of Revenue Services' list includes locksmith services, repair of electrical or electronic devices (including air conditioning and refrigeration equipment), and electrical or plumbing services to commercial, industrial and income-producing real property.

Connecticut requires anyone engaged in locksmithing to be registered with the Department of Consumer Protection under Conn. Gen. Stat. 20-691. Locksmithing means inspecting, installing, recombining, rekeying, servicing or repairing locks, with listed exemptions such as work at one's own residence.
The Department licenses plumbing and piping work in contractor and journeyperson classes. For example, the P-1 unlimited plumbing contractor license covers all plumbing and piping work as defined in Conn. Gen. Stat. 20-330.
Connecticut requires electricians to hold a Department of Consumer Protection license to do electrical work, and the license goes to the individual rather than the electrical business.
Workers in heating, cooling and sheet metal must hold a Department of Consumer Protection license, and the Heating, Piping, Cooling and Sheet Metal Work Examining Board oversees the trade.
